Kick-Ass, The Movie

post kick ass poster fullBeing a comic-book geek, I’m usually the first guy to know when a new superhero movie is coming out.

But, for some reason, the comic Kick-Ass completely slipped by me (possibly because my local library doesn’t carry it. I’m cheap.).

I hadn’t heard about the comic until last week, but I now want every issue ever made. Ever.

Guys without super powers, donning masks and fighting crime. Awesome.

I don’t want to call them realistic, but I’m a fan of superhero movies based in a less fantasy setting like Unbreakable and Watchmen (yes, it had the blue naked guy, but most of the characters didn’t have powers).

I think I need to see this if for no other reason than to see McLovin as Red Mist.

The Buzz

To build up buzz for the movie, a cell-phone video of Kick-Ass protecting a guy from 4 attackers was uploaded to Youtube. The video’s less than a minute, and wicked-bad quality (kind of shoddy since it’s one of very few pieces of viral marketing they did), but I still like it.

Something about repeating “Leave’m alone!” and “I’m not leavin’ him!” instead of cheesy well thought out catchphrases does it for me.

Here’s the vid:

Seeing a crime fighter with nothing more than two sticks covered in hockey-tape makes me want to get back into Escrima.

What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it? Don’t care? Lemme know in the comments!
